Description

Again this is a revision of an earlier piece. The initial setup was in Blender, which is a 3d app, but it has since had about 30 hours in photoshop. The storm systems on the planet are taken from a Nasa photo of Saturn, and the textures on the Moon are a Nasa photo of Iapetus, one of Saturn's moons. The ship started life as a very simple model I constructed in Blender. The detail is entirely hand drawn using a Wacom tablet. The rocks, which took the longest, were a combination of hand drawing, use of the craquelure filter, lots of repeat layers and extensive use of the liquify filter to stop them looking like clones. Now that was hard work!
BTW: This is the cover for my new CD album "the Southern Cross" More info coming soon.

I love this - flawlessly done too! As a Brit (by birth) and a New Zealander, I also love it that your inspiration for the ship is The Endeavor Bark. Looks great on your website too!!
